Long-term equity anticipation securities

Equity options, generally exchange traded, which are very similar to standard equity options except for the fact that they expire further in the future.

(1) The expiration date can be as much as two, three or even five years into the future. (2) When their remaining life falls into the maturity range of traditional options, long-term equity options are reclassified as traditional options and cease to be considered as long-term options. (3) LEAPS is an acronym for Long-term Equity AnticiPation Securities.
